Conversations on Creative Aging
NWCCA
believes that intentional dialogue is a way to promote aging creatively. The
concept of the “elder circle” has been used over time as a place to share lessons learned, and to ask thoughtful questions.
"Conversations on Creative Aging" invites eight to fifteen older adults to engage in intentional dialogues. Some conversations meet monthly and welcome new members, some are with a committed group of members and are scheduled over the course of one to two months They all encourage deep and honest discussions about big questions, such as: Has my life mattered? How do I want to spend the rest of my days? What brings meaning to my life?
These Conversations are:
- Held in community centers, churches and retirement communities, and other accessible facilities
- Led by volunteer facilitators
- Size-limited for meaningful dialogue
- Free of charge to participants
Participants value the conversations:
- "Sharing our life experiences gave me a sense of compassion and my own resiliency."
- "I have a better sense of certainty about who I am and what my purpose is."
- "This helped me to approach my children to talk about what really matters to me."
